Us beauty therapists have always had a hard time in some way shape or form.

These days it’s nurses, doctors and dentists that are lording it over us because they seem to want to make a few extra bucks for themselves.

I got into the beauty industry almost 30 years ago because I wanted to help people feel good about themselves.

I’ve also done a stint in the home caring industry and although there are similarities (the caring aspect) they are completely different jobs that require a totally different skill sets.

Beauty therapy requires knowledge of anatomy & physiology and science. It’s also important you have the right touch. I’ve had facials and massages from therapists who just don’t have “the touch”. You can tell. It also requires an artistic flare and a keen aesthetic eye. These are things you can’t be trained in or learn. You either have it or you don’t.

My point? Don’t listen to these medics slating beauty therapists for the sake of it. If in doubt, check insurance details, qualifications and portfolio of work.
