The word holistic is derived from the Greek word “holos” which means whole. The concept behind holistic therapy is to take all aspects of life into account when deciding a treatment plan. This means that mind, body and spirit should be in harmony to achieve optimum health and well being i.e. if one aspect is out of sink this will have a knock on effect on the others.
An example of this would be somebody suffering insomnia. Instead of immediately taking sleeping pills areas of stress in life would be explored, diet examined and advised on as well as advice on relaxation techniques.
