Depending on your skin and hair type, one of the side effects of waxing can be ingrown hairs. These can be recognised in a couple of different forms. Sometimes they appear to be like a flat thread lying underneath the skin surface or they may look like a small raised spot with a dark dot in the middle. Dry skin is one of the causes of ingrown hairs so to prevent them you should exfoliate and moisturise your skin in between waxing treatments. If you attempt to remove the hair yourself make sure that whatever implement you use is sterile and that you apply some witch hazel or lavender to help it heal.
