Acne is usually thought to be a condition suffered by teenagers but it’s probably more accurate to say that it occurs when there is increased hormone activity i.e. puberty, pregnancy etc. Although poor diet is often cited there is little evidence to support this. However, eating a diet rich in beta-carotene (carrots, apricots etc) is thought to be beneficial as beta-carotene converts to vitamin A in the body and this is essential for maintaining healthy skin.
A variety of oils can be used to help treat acne such as geranium to balance the secretion of oil, tea tree to clear infection, neroli and wheatgerm to help prevent scarring. Massage stimulates the circulation and helps eliminate toxins.
